Rules below supersede the standard SFGSL Rules of Play. Reference the league’s Rules of Play and then USA Softball Rules for anything not covered herein.

Team Rosters: Teams will consist of a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 7 players.

Duration of Play: All games (including the championship game) are slated for 40 minutes or 4 innings, whichever comes first. No new inning will start within 5 minutes of the game limit. When time expires or if under the 5-minute limit, the inning will end when the home team has finished their last at bats for that inning.

Pitch Count: All games will start with a 1 and 1 count (1 ball and 1 strike) with no courtesy foul to give. If a batter has 2 strikes and hits a foul ball, the batter is out.

Run Limits: There will be a 7-run limit per inning per team. A team down by 7 or more runs can catch up to tie the highest score existing in that inning. The 4th inning will be considered open innings with no run limit.

Batting Order: A minimum of 5 and maximum of 7 players can be listed on the offensive lineup for batting. In the event a player’s turn comes up to bat, and they are already on a base, a courtesy runner may be used in their place without penalty.

Courtesy Runners: There is no limit to the number of courtesy runners that may be used per inning.

Team Rotation: Home team starts on the outfield, mid team starts on the infield, and visiting team will start at bat. At the completion of a team at bat, the outfield moves to infield, the infield comes up to bat, and the batting team moves to the outfield.

Points: Top scoring team of each pool play game will receive 2 points, second highest scoring team will receive 1-point, lowest scoring team will receive 0 points. If there is a tie for the top 2 scoring teams, each team will receive 1.5 points. If there is a tie for the bottom 2 scoring teams, each team will receive 0.5 points.

Championship Game: Top 3 teams will play based on points accumulated in pool play games. Only players registered on the original roster that have played in at least one pool play game may play in the championship game. No new inning will start within 5 minutes of the game limit. If a tie occurs with 2 or 3 teams, all 3 teams will play another inning. Highest final score wins.
